...passenger side window. Same scenario too. The thief must have cased my Z because he didn't go for it until the one night I didn't take the face off the stereo. I got lulled into that false sense of security because it was a good part of town, the apartment complex was gated, and the Z was parked right outside someone's window and just below my girlfriend's apartment window. I had an alarm, it went off, but no one heard it (I asked the next day). The thief pryed the glass away from the Z and it snapped just along the sill. Then the thief placed the glass on the grass in front of my car.Unfortunately the stereo was not a POS and I hadn't finished bolting it into the dash so it was a piece of cake for the thief to remove. On the plus side he didn't steal my 100 book of CDs or the rest of the system (or the Z itself). On the bad side are the two dents from the pry bar the thief used and the freakin' wind noise. I still haven't replaced the tint on that window either. I hate thieves. As long as we still have the death penalty in Texas why not extend it to car thieves (that's how much I hate them). So I feel your pain.
